Tips for Black Friday.

Tips for Black Friday

Every year, this phenomenon comes back from America to the Netherlands: Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Last year, online purchases had already risen considerably due to the corona crisis, and Black Friday keeps growing in popularity. That’s why a new rise is expected this year too, in both online and physical purchases. To make sure you, as an entrepreneur, get the most out of these days, we’ve listed a number of tips for you in this blog. Got curious? Then read on quickly!

Tips for Black Friday

How do I prepare?

Tip 1: Offers
As everyone knows, Black Friday stands for offers. Consumers now really expect genuinely good deals. So decide in advance which offers and discounts you can and want to give. But also take a look at your competition. And yes, your margin might get smaller, but you can score better when you offer more discount.

Tip 2: A promo page
Create a special promo page for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, where you can tease visitors about the upcoming offer. Just keep in mind not to mention anything concrete yet, until you’re really sure what the offer will be. Then share the link, for example, in news items. The sooner you do this, the greater the chance Google will include your page in indexing. The greater that is, the greater the chance you’ll be found during these promo days.

Tip 3: Social Media
Many people can be found on social media. So also mention on your various social media channels that you’re taking part in Black Friday, if needed with a link to the promo page. You can also create a Facebook event to inform your followers. The more people are informed, the greater the chance you’ll sell more.

Tip 4: Newsletters
Sending a newsletter to your customers can make sure they know about your participation in Black Friday and Cyber Monday. We recommend sending such an email twice: one week before and one day before Black Friday.

Extra tip: segment your email list. Customers’ interest in products varies. Try to segment these customers and offer suitable products.

What to do on the day itself?

Tip 1: A findable promo page
Make sure the promo page can be found quickly and easily from your homepage. Add the page to your menu, for example, or place a new block on the website with the link to the page.

Tip 2: Convince your visitors
Make sure visitors can’t miss the offers. Concretely state what the offer is/how much discount they get. And make sure visitors see that the promotion is only valid on that day.

3. Black Friday message
Don’t forget to also send an email on the day itself with the offers and the link to the promo page. Also post a message on social media again. This way you make sure customers don’t forget your offers.

4. Keep your promises
The most important thing of all: keep what you promise. If you don’t live up to customers’ expectations, they won’t come back quickly. Make sure you have enough stock or that you can remove the offer from the website in time. But also think about your other promises, such as delivery times, shipping costs etc. These need to be correct during Black Friday and Cyber Monday too.

Following up on Black Friday

With these tips for Black Friday, you can be sure everything is well arranged for the day itself. But even after Black Friday is over, you can still try to sell products. Think, for example, of a newsletter to welcome your new customers. Or send an email to customers who left their shopping cart without buying anything. And do you already know you’ll be coming with an offer again next year? Then don’t remove the page. The page will then keep building up relevance. Next year you can then adjust the page. This way you can be sure Google has already indexed your page and the page is findable faster.

One more extra tip: Evaluate. Not just your own promotion, but also what your competitors did. With this information, you can be even better prepared next year and come up with even sharper deals!
