5 cool design trends of 2021.

The world of design keeps changing. Every year there are new cool trends you can respond well to. It’s especially important to create a ‘timeless’ design. 1. 3D (design & typography)

With this awesome trend we’re literally heading into another dimension! 3D elements and tools already had a fair rise last year, but in the coming period it’s really going to take off. Bring your designs to life by putting your 3D designs centre stage! Give your eyeballs a new visual experience, and stand out. Besides cool 3D illustrations, 3D typography is a trend for 2021. Not just the shape of the letters, but also the colours play a big role. The realistic “glossy” look is what really brings this 3D typography to life.

2. Geometry

Squares, triangles, circles. Simple yet complex. What do I mean by that? These super simple shapes work perfectly as puzzle pieces for a striking and unique design. The possibilities are endless with these ‘building blocks’. Use bright colours, and build awesome designs. And oh yeah, want your design to really work well? Use a grid!

3. CHAOS!!!

The doors to new ‘out of the box’ concepts are open! Chaotic typography, how eye-catching do we want to make it? Shift and play around with your typography a bit, and you’ll see how much freedom you get in expressing your design. Combine thin with bold text. Use small, large, round, angular. Throw everything together, because you can and you may!

4. Emojis

2021 is the year to show our emotional side. And that doesn’t mean sad. Fun, playful and colourful emojis are the way to show how you feel. From animations to 3D to illustrations. Emoji design is the way to grab attention and leave a smile on someone’s face.

5. Less colour?

Hey, that’s a bit contradictory with those other trends mentioned above. True, but it’s also all about the art of combining or deploying these trends. You have to make the right choices here.

But anyway, back to this trend. Less colour, how so? Calm, simplicity and purposefulness. Not too much fuss. That’s what this trend is all about. And does this mean you have to design everything in black and white? No, not that. But this “colourless” trend does offer a lot of possibilities. So does an element really need to stand out? Then break the rule, and use a bright colour. In short, it’s about the art of combining and deploying different trends.
