How do you get 8 million visitors a year?
SEO content is important for the owner of www.berekenen.nl, Daniël Hulsebosch. So important, in fact, that the success of the entire website more or less depends on it.
Today I want to share one of our client success stories with you. Daniël has been a Webba client for almost 10 years, and with 8 million online visitors a year, Berekenen.nl is one of our most successful projects.
In this post I’ll explain to you exactly how we achieved this success together.

SEO Content & Rich Snippets
Exactly! With high-quality SEO content and rich snippets (more on that in a moment). Nothing more and nothing less.
No paid ads, no bought traffic, none of that. The entire success of Berekenen.nl depends on good content and clever technical ‘tricks’.
How do you write rock-solid SEO content?
- Do thorough keyword research
- Write 200% unique content
- Research the topic
- Use relevant multimedia content
- Clear structure, readability and titles
SEO content more important than ever
Now you might think: I’ll look up the most important terms and write content for those. That’s not a bad idea in itself, but it’s still not the best approach.
It ultimately pays off much more, in fact, to put yourself in the shoes of your (potential) customers and find out what information is useful to them.
Try to answer your visitor’s search intent as well as possible with your content. After all, you’re writing your content for your customer, not for Google.
This doesn’t take away, of course, from the fact that keyword research is still a very important means of reaching a bigger audience with your SEO content.
Google’s algorithms keep getting smarter and can therefore increasingly determine what your content is about. Keywords will therefore become less and less important in the future. Soon it’ll be about how well you’re able to answer the search queries in Google. The best answer wins!
Google can by now even determine related topics within your content. Google uses a number of calculations for this, such as the TFIDF formula, for instance. TF-IDF stands for term frequency–inverse document frequency. This little sum looks like this:
Fun, right? This is a statistic meant to calculate the importance of a specific word and the gist of a document, article or website. Google uses this formula (and a lot more!) to dig into the content and determine its leading topic.
Tip: never cover more than 1 or 2 topics per page, because then Google finds it harder to judge which search query your page answers. Keep it relevant!

#1 position in Google’s search results; here’s how
With 714 calculators, there’s plenty to say at Berekenen.nl. For every calculator we’ve created specific pages with strong, clear SEO content, focused on that calculator.
This is how we achieved that coveted first position with the (very competitive) search term ‘BMI Calculator’.

Why does Berekenen rank 1st for this highly competitive search term? There are three important reasons:
- Rock-solid content!
- Very fast load time
- Structured data
A fast load time (usability) and structured data have also contributed to the success. A fast website load time is, after all, equivalent to a better user experience, for which Google will reward you.
The clever technical tricks: rich snippets, or structured data, also have the necessary influence on your organic results. These are pieces of data, such as reviews, prices, or product information, packaged (encoded) in such a way that search engines immediately recognise websites with structured data.
This makes you more visible in the search results. A nice example of structured data is the review stars:

This kind of displayed data doesn’t just make you stand out more in the search results — Google also gives priority to websites with structured data.
SEO content results are more than worth the wait
SEO is a long-term strategy. That’s also clear to see in the organic visitors graph below. This covers a period of almost 3 years. You can see that most of the result only becomes visible after well over a year and a half!

Many entrepreneurs give up after a few months, because they see little or no result. This has several causes:
- No long-term mindset
- Lack of time
- Lack of resources
- Lack of knowledge
So definitely don’t give up too soon. As they sometimes say: good things come slowly. That certainly applies to SEO content results!
