Sergio: My internship at Webba.

Communication & Multimedia Design, that’s the name of my course. My name is Sergio Mensing and I’ve spent the past six months doing an internship at Webba. This was my first internship, so for me it was definitely a new experience and pretty exciting too, of course! Fortunately also an instructive experience. As part of our course we have to find an internship ourselves, and after a while of searching I ended up at Webba. Effective online, easy to use and nice to look at, as they say themselves. I didn’t hesitate to send them a message with my portfolio. The same day I already got a reply, they wanted to have me in for an interview. I had already sent a number of emails, but Webba was the first to respond.

New adventure

During the first conversation it became clear that this was a friendly company with passion for the assignments they carried out. I got to start on the 1st of September at 9 o’clock. That day I was mainly onboarded, added to the group chat and introduced to everyone. My internship supervisor explained that at Webba, as an intern, you’re allowed to do anything, as long as you prove yourself. I was determined to do exactly that! She noticed that too, and soon I was given assignments with more responsibility, and before I knew it I was one of the Webbazen.

Mijn Webba

About halfway through my internship I got the chance to work on the Mijn Webba project. A really great challenge! Mijn Webba is the client portal that’s currently in development. Under the guidance of Stefan (one of the Lead Designers at Webba) I was given the freedom to shape Mijn Webba. In terms of web design and user experience, this is one of the projects I’ve learned the most from. An application like this has so many parts to take into account, and the user experience mustn’t suffer because of that. You have to think carefully about how this process should work and make it as easy as possible for the user. I worked this out together with Stefan from start to finish. I ended up making about 10 different versions of the dashboard, to make sure the user experience would be as good as possible.

Conclusion

Looking back at the challenging tasks I got at Webba, the great atmosphere among colleagues and the fact that I finished my internship with a passing grade, I can look back on my internship period at Webba with a satisfied feeling. It’s definitely worth recommending to any student doing something with web design or IT.
