Good web design and user-friendliness.
USER-FRIENDLINESS
User-friendliness matters enormously on a website, but why exactly? Surely it is all about the content? Wrong. In fact everything starts with good web design. In this article we explain how to strengthen the user-friendliness of your website.
CLEAR NAVIGATION
People want to find what they are looking for, and a good design speeds that process up and makes it easier. If you don’t help them along the way, there is a greater chance they will not become your customer. Clear navigation can make an enormous difference there. It is, after all, the most important part of your website. It should be clear at a glance what your site is about and what people can expect from you.

TIPS FOR IMPROVING YOUR NAVIGATION
- Make sure your menu items are good and clear.
- Make it obvious which elements of your website are “clickable”.
- Make it clear to visitors where on the website they are.
- Keep your links consistent.
USE OF COLOUR
Colours communicate. It is that simple. Use extremely loud colours to make a point and your visitor will experience it as confusing and pushy. So keep your use of colour calm. That starts with the design. Everything starts there, in fact — think of it as the foundation of your website. Make sure the design of your site radiates calm. Use plenty of white. Make sure your visitor can reach everything easily.
IMPROVING YOUR USE OF COLOUR AND DESIGN
- Use white; it will bring calm to your website.
- Your website is not a work of art, but a means for your visitor.
- Use colour to guide your visitor.
THE LAYOUT OF YOUR WEBSITE
Something else to bear in mind is the layout of your website. There is a pattern that visitors have recognised for years. You will know it: the logo top left, the menu to the right, the content below. Nine times out of ten this layout is used, and therefore expected. So give your website a solid layout. Use blocks to divide your content up.
TIPS FOR THE LAYOUT OF YOUR WEBSITE
- Work with a division into blocks.
- There is a standard for a reason — make use of it.
- Keep your layout clear.
READABILITY
Last but by no means least is optimising readability. You don’t want your visitor hunched over 10 cm from the screen to be able to read everything. So use a clear typeface that can also be read from a normal distance. Font sizes of 12 to 14 are no longer of our time. It is therefore fine to make everything a little bigger. Your visitor will appreciate it!
INCREASE THE READABILITY OF YOUR WEBSITE
- Use headings. The most important one is the largest; make the less important ones slightly smaller.
- Use a larger font for your paragraphs. Font size 16 to 18 is fine. Just give it a try.
- Use typefaces that are easy to read.
GOOD WEB DESIGN
Everything hinges on a good design for your website. By looking through the visitor’s eyes as much as possible, you will see that they come to appreciate your website. Is your website design still of our time? We are always ready to advise you.
